Obituary for Salvatore "Sam" A. Maranto

Salvatore “Sam” Antonio Maranto, age 89, a resident of Plainfield, IL and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on September 24, 2019. He was born on October 28, 1929 in Chicago, IL.

Salvatore is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia (nee Sinnott) Maranto of Plainfield, IL; his dear daughters, Patty (Valentine) Tokarczyk of Plainfield, IL, Christine (Carl) Spircoff of Elmwood Park, IL and Annette (Pete) Schiro of Plainfield, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Michele Parma, Gina Dement, Nick and Eric Jarosz, Christopher, Brandon and Alex Schiro; adored great grandchildren, Paige, Ava, Devin, Jordan, Blake, Brody, Madison, Taylor, Lillian ,Logan ,and Rhilyn; dear sister, Eleanor Speros; and also nieces, nephews and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Concetta Maranto; sister, Mary Lokay; and brothers, Joseph and Vincent Maranto.

Salvatore grew up in Chicago . He joined the Army on 9-16–47 Stationed at Fort Lewis Washington. Under the 9th infantry.

He worked for Leasway Trucking Company retiring in 1992.

He had a passion for antiques and military memorabilia. He like to collect fossils and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed watching mob movies with his grandsons. He loved his dog Sammy which was his best friend and his family was his world. He was the best dad his girls could ever ask for and he was loved by many.

Services will be private. Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield, was entrusted with arrangements.
