Obituary for Richard D. "Dick" Cosaro

Richard D. "Dick" Cosaro, age 90, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1957, passed on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home. He was born July 13, 1929 in Chicago, IL.

Beloved husband of the late Joyce M. Cosaro (nee Nickel), whom he married October 24, 1953 and who preceded him in death on February 23, 2017, loving father of Rick Cosaro of Naperville, Rob (Bronwen) Cosaro of San Jose, CA, Lisa (Bob) Dunphey of Naperville and Cristi (Craig) Middleton of Muskegon, MI, adored grandfather of Alexander (Sarah Melanson) Cosaro and Emma Cosaro; Matt, Zack and Jack Dunphey; Casey Middleton, great-grandfather of Natalie, devoted son of the late Luciano "Al" and Mary (nee Carraro) Cosaro, dear brother of Corky (the late Pete) Pezzati of Sarasota, FL, fond uncle of many, great-uncle of many, including Amy (Chris) Sharp, friend of many. Dick loved animals, especially his dogs and will be missed by his current dog, Rosco.

Dick grew up on Chicago's South Side and attended Fenger High School. He was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY and served in the U.S. Navy/Merchant Marine during the Korean War. He was part of the crew of the SS Flying Enterprise which sank in the North Atlantic on January 10, 1952, while being towed, after being damaged by a hurricane.

A mechanical engineer, Dick worked most of his career with Commonwealth Edison Company (now Exelon Corporation). After his retirement from ComEd, Dick was employed as a consultant for Sargent & Lundy in China and Thailand. He enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Frankfort, MI and traveling abroad with his wife, Joyce.

Services and interment will be private.
