Obituary for Pio Masini

Pio Masini, age 87, a longtime resident of Chicago, Illinois, entered peacefully into eternal life on March 14, 2020. He was born September 18, 1932, in Lammari, Lucca, Italy. He was the son of the late Aldofo and Massimina Masini and the son-in-law of the late Dario and Marina Bianucci. He was the loving husband for 61 years to the late Adriana Masini. He is survived by his beloved children Daria (Kenneth Zavacki), Massimo (Anne), and Marco (Kimberly) and his precious grandchildren Stephanie (Brandon), Christopher, Emily, Ericson (Elizabeth), Tyler, Gabriella, and Isabella. He was preceded in death by his sister Elia, brother Pietro (Dolores), and brother Giovanni (Pola) and is mourned by his brother Mario (Lauretta). He was the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Before coming to Chicago, he worked on the family farm in Italy, was a prankster, and enjoyed close relationships with his extended family. He worked at various restaurants in Chicago before becoming a part owner of The Blue Gold Liquor tap on Clark Street in Chicago. Pio had a lifetime dedication to the Catholic faith and was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew Parish for many years. Throughout his life, he was committed to his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed entertaining friends, weekly family gatherings, and was known for getting himself involved with everyone’s affairs. He savored a good plate of pasta prepared by his wife, his homemade bottle of vino, and a full table of family and friends to share in his good fortune. For the last eight years, Pio lived in Naperville and was kindly welcomed to the city by his Elizabeth Street neighbors. Pio enjoyed good health for most of his life and was cared for during his final years by his three children and extended family.

For those who would like to leave a lasting tribute to Pio's life, memorials may be directed to Benedictine University, 5700 College Rd., Lisle, IL 60532, Attn: Development Office. Please notate Masini Family Scholarship.
