Obituary for Mary Anne Turza

Mary Anne Turza (nee Schroeder), age 82, a resident of Aurora, IL since 2004, formerly of Oak Park, Cicero and Westchester, IL, passed away suddenly on Monday December 2, 2019. She was born July 23, 1937 in Chicago, IL.

Beloved wife of the late Robert W. Turza, whom she married September 23, 1961 and who preceded her in death on January 21, 1985, loving mother of Robert Edward (Patricia) Turza of Orland Park, IL, Andrew William (Gina) Turza of Downers Grove, IL, David Joseph (Erin) Turza of Lake Barrington, IL and Stephen Harold (Jaime) Turza of Naperville, IL adored grandmother of Ashlie Turza and Alyssa (fiancée, Beto Garcia) Turza; Samantha and Lauren Turza; Charlie, Will and Aubrey Turza, devoted daughter of the late Harold and Marie (nee Lillig) Schroeder, loving step-daughter of the late Lillian Schroeder, dear sister of Kathleen (the late John) Macri of Huntley, IL, fond sister-in-law of Ted (Nan) Turza of Port St. Joe, FL, dear cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.

Mary Anne grew up in Oak Park, attended St. Bernardine Grade School, Nazareth Academy (Class of 1955) and later earned a BA from DePaul University, Chicago. A loving and devoted homemaker, Mary Anne was employed with Northern Trust Corporation, Chicago from 1984-2002, starting as a secretary and retiring as Vice President of Human Resources.

Mary Anne was a devout Catholic and was active in the church. She was a current member of Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, Aurora and was a former member of Saint Frances of Rome and Divine Infant Catholic Church. Mary Anne enjoyed reading, attending opera and theater, traveling, cocktail-ing and was known far and wide as an excellent cook.

Mary Anne’s passion was her family and friends. She loved her Grandchildren beyond compare and never missed a milestone. She was fiercely protective of her “1st call” babysitting status and knew everyone’s favorite dish...and they were all: “Dee-lish!”

Visitation Friday, December 6, 2019, 3:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville.

Services will begin Saturday, December 7, 9:00 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Annunciation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1820 Church Rd, Aurora, IL.

Interment: Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
