Obituary for Karol "Ducky" Kwak

Karol Kwak, born in Chicago to Polish parents 89 years ago on the near south side with his brother Bob and sister Louise, passed away April 28, 2019.

He went to Crane Tech High school becoming an all area great baseball player and accomplished minor leaguer and made the big show with the Baltimore Oreoles, being on their opening 1954 roster and if it wasn't for a hamstring injury in a critical point in his career he might have stayed with them. His stats diminished and was sent down to the Texas league and have fate had it met my Mom married and had three kids: Richard, Kathy and Glenn.

Then, moved back to Chicago. We lived there for 10 years before moving out to Romeoville and Hampton park. He could be a bastard sometimes, but he got us through life ok. He didn't push us in sports but he taught me and my brother well to where we became pretty good players inheriting his great skill. The neighborhood kids loved him as well when he sometimes played ball with them or built a Hockey rink in our backyard!

After me and my brother moved out, he lived with my mom, sister and her son Frank Flentge, till my Moms passing in 2003. He survived a heart attack then later the stress of losing my sister and her son, plus being beat up by some thugs who tried to rob him within months of each other 4 years go, but he struggled on bumping from nursing home to nursing home. Finally, the stress was to much for him and we lost him on April 28, 2019. Will miss old Ducky.
