Obituary for Julia Parker

Julia Parker was born August 9,1927 in Chicago Illinois. She was the oldest female child born to Odee Scott Sr. and Idarene Pate Scott, and has been preceded in death by both her parents. She is the widow of Claude O. Jordan Sr. and later, Monroe Parker. Julia has also been preceded in death by her brothers: Harold, Roy, and Odee Jr., as well as her sisters; Loretta, Lauraine, Shirley and Delores. Her only son, Claude Jordan Jr., preceded her in death in 1977.

Family was demonstrated by Julia to be of the highest significance; she was a generous matriarch and her countenance was described as gentle and upright. Her five foot three inch frame was capable of balancing a number of responsibilities, and she was noted for how she smiled at the challenges life presented to her.

Julia’s formal education was completed at the twelfth grade; she was a proud graduate of the Luciflower High School on Chicago’s west side. She held jobs in Chicago’s garment industry, was a clerical employee in Chicago City Colleges, and later participated as caregiver to both her grandsons.

While Julia’s christian experience started very young in the Methodist Church, she wasbaptized as an adult in the New Friendship Baptist Church of Southfield Michigan in the late 1980’s. She welcomed fellowship on a few occasions with the men and women of Harvest Church Plainfield in her latter years, and was secure in her relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Julia was fond of travel, and was a resident of not only her native Chicago, but lived in the great states of New York, Michigan, and Texas. She also travelled with family to Colorado, California, Wisconsin, and many of the southern states of North America.

During her lifetime that has spanned more than ninety years, Julia was blessed to share a fulland rich life with many blessings from God with two daughters, Patricia Newson and JoyceJordan; two grandsons, Eric Darnell Newson and Jason Elliott Jordan, and many nephews and
nieces.
