Obituary for Frank W. Wohead

Frank W. "Frisco" Wohead, age 98, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born August 10, 1920 in Bremond, TX.

Beloved husband of Marjorie “Marge" Wohead (nee Kuhn), whom he married February 3, 1951, loving father of Doris (John) Chelman of Downers Grove, IL, Robert (Wanda) Wohead of Naperville, IL, Jane (Rodney) Bunch of Wendell, NC, Steve (Kim) Wohead of Oswego, IL, Marilyn (Bill) Josey of Aiken, SC, Ken (Kimberly) Wohead of Prescott, AZ, Mark Wohead of Yorkville, IL and Ed (Judi) Wohead of Allen, TX, adored grandfather of Tom, Nick and Christie; Joyce; Anneliese, Cacey-Jane and Jacob; Matthew, Emily (Levi), Rachael and Andrew; Donald and Allison; Nathan; Gaby and Mitch, cherished great-grandfather of Kailey, Peyton and Trevin, devoted son of the late Henry and Katy (nee Franko) Wohead, dear brother of Mary Burke of Lemont, IL, Joe (Fran) Wohead of Lemont, IL and the late Brother John Wohead, Michael J. 'Mike' (the late Raymonda) Wohead, Steve (the late Joan) Wohead, Veronica (the late Earl) Bartholomae and Ann Wohead, brother-in-law of Vincent (Patricia) Kuhn of Yorkville, and the late Harry Kuhn, Everett (Helen) Kuhn, and Beatrice Kuhn, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

Frank moved from Texas to Tipton, Indiana at the age of two. He later lived in Chicago and moved to Naperville, where his parents had a farm on Olesen Lane.

Frank worked in construction his entire career, first with Ragner Benson, and he later started Wohead Brothers Construction, Naperville, with brothers, Mike and Steve. He truly enjoyed his work as a carpenter. Out of the many houses Frank worked on, the first one he ever built was always the one he was most proud of. This house on 818 N. Webster Street, where he lived for 67 years, proved to withstand the test of time. He took pride in that, often pointing to the ceiling with a smile to say “60 years – and not a crack in it.”

Frank excelled as a baseball player in his youth and later played with and managed the DuPage Tigers Semi-pro baseball team. Frank loved fishing, boating, swimming, dancing, travel and enjoyed playing cards. He taught all his kids, along with many of their cousins, to water ski. He was a longtime member of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Naperville.

Above all else, Frank adored his Wife, Margie, who he met at a square dance. He loved to spend time with all his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by his family. As Frank would always say when leaving and shaking hands, “You know what they say in Texas: Y’all be good now!”
