Born Farzaneh Kheyrkhah, in Tehran, Iran in 1936, Farzaneh was the third daughter of Ezzatolah and Effat Kheyrkhah. Farzaneh emigrated to the United States in 1959 to marry Keyvan Nazerian in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1960, they moved to Italy to serve as pioneers in the 10 Year Teaching Plan, where they established Baha'i communities in Padua and Mantova, Italy. Upon their return to the United States, they settled in East Lansing, Michigan where Farzaneh established herself as a pillar of the vibrant East Lansing Baha’i community. Farzaneh’s infectious smile, her open-hearted hospitality and her empathetic love for her friends and family made her a kindred spirit to all who met her.

Farzaneh is survived by her husband, Keyvan; her children Michael (Marjone), Alan (Mina) and Lily (Bruce); her grandchildren Ella, Jack, Layla, Raffi, Maxwell, Talia and Rocco; and her sisters Farideh, Fahimeh and Fataneh. She is also survived by the many friends and family whose lives she touched profoundly with her joy, her empathy, her hospitality and her love. Though she is no longer with us, her gracious spirit and her warm smile will remain fresh in our memories for eternity.

Based on the deceased's wishes, in lieu of flowers Baha’is may contribute to the Baha’i National Fund in Farzaneh’s name. All other friends may consider a small donation in honor of Farzaneh Nazerian to the Michigan State University Horticultural Gardens.
