Obituary for Evelyn S. Duraski

Evelyn S. Duraski (nee Aleman), age 82, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1980, formerly of Fairmont City, IL, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born February 4, 1937 in Fairmont City.

Beloved wife of Robert F. Duraski, Sr., whom she married in 1958, loving mother of Robert F. Duraski, Jr., of Dumont, CO, Bernard L. Duraski of Hendersonville, TN, David O. (Sylvia) Duraski of Bartlett, IL, Carl A. Duraski of Geneva, IL, Christina M. (Nick) Culotta of Plainfield, IL and John A. (Katie) Duraski of Batavia, IL, adored grandmother of Shannon (Sam) Alijagic, Tracy (Justin) Taylor and Brittany Duraski; Michael Duraski; Dominic and Danielle Culotta; Jack, Harlee and Harry Duraski, proud great-grandmother of Gage Duraski, Hannah Brewer and Tessa Alijagic; Reagan and Rhett Taylor; Colton Duraski, Mathiea Meredith, Tristin and Syler Carter, devoted daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (nee Carrizales) Aleman, dear sister of Rosemary (Frank) Ortiz, the late Louis (Patricia) Aleman, Jr., John (Sharon) Aleman, Frank (Josefana) Aleman, Susan (Jim) Schuler, Anthony (JoAnn) Aleman, Arthur (Dana) Aleman, Alfred (Mary) Aleman, Guadalupe Neeriemer, Peter Aleman, Christopher (Joni) Aleman and Mary Elizabeth Aleman, sister-in-law of Arthur Duraski, cherished niece of Jenny (Jimmy) Cook and Tony Carrizales, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.

Evelyn attended Granite City High School but left before graduating to take a job at Alfred Ecker Engraving so that she could help her family. She met Robert “Bob” at the Mexican Hall. Friends told her he was wild, so she said a rosary before their first date. They married in 1958. After raising her children, Evelyn worked at McDonalds and Madison Junior High School, both in Naperville, where she met great friends. They formed a Canasta group and kept it going for many years. She loved being a grandmother and watched all her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to talk radio, watching EWTN and her and Bob had television recordings they watched together nightly. They called it the Lineup.

Family was very important to Evelyn and Evelyn was very important to her family. Her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews visited frequently when she was sick, even though there were many miles between them. She will be missed beyond belief. Just writing this, we thought of a million questions we needed to ask her.

Evelyn was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naperville and her family wishes to thank the church for their kindness and support throughout the years, especially during Evelyn's illness.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020, 3:00-9:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, IL.
