Elizabeth G. "Beth" Schmitt (nee Drendel), age 93, a resident of Villa St. Benedict in Lisle, IL, former longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born November 28, 1924 on her family farm located on Hobson Road in Naperville.
Beloved wife of the late Joseph Schmitt, whom she married September 4, 1948 and who preceded her in death on April 18, 2000, loving mother of Judith (the late Ken) Ferestad of Florida, John Schmitt of Texas, Mary (James) Nordmann of Naperville, Fran (Steve Johnson) Kueker of Minnesota, Mark (Mary) Schmitt of Minnesota, Sue (Jim) Bertellotti of Oswego, IL, Diane (Dave) Esser of Naperville, Cathy (Bill) Sigsworth of California and the late James "Jimmy" Schmitt and the late Christopher "Chris" Schmitt, adored grandmother of Ginny (Marco) Viau and Amy Winsted; Cliff (Katja Petzold) Schmitt, Craig (Kim) Schmitt and Shaun (Kristen) Goodwin; Dan and Jill Nordmann; Eric (Vicki) Kueker and Julie (Chris) Bushinger; Eva (Andrew) Geiser, Paul and Helen Schmitt; Lisa Bertellotti and Kristen Jednachowski; Rob Davis and Matthew Esser; Ian and Marina Sigsworth, cherished great-grandmother of Hailie and Mackenzie; Chance and Trace; Russell, Jesse and Elli; Courtney and Josh; Joseph and Johnathan; Anthony and Ella; Erik and Sarah and Jase; Emma and Charlie; Elsie; Kate and Avery; Renee and Ryan, devoted daughter of the late Emil and Frances (nee Schultz) Drendel, dear sister of Bernice Kinley of Naperville and the late Bernard, Arthur, Harold, Edward, Magdalen and Louise, mother-in-law of the late Mark Kueker, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Beth grew up on her family farm in Naperville and attended SS. Peter & Paul Grade School and Naperville High School (Class of 1942). She worked at Prince Castle in Naperville as a teenager and later with NBC in Chicago and Wil-Freds Construction Company in Naperville. Beth was a lifelong member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed reading, card games, sewing, knitting and quilting. Beth will be remembered as a formidable opponent in SCRABBLE and Skip-Bo.
Visitation Thursday, September 20, 2018, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.
Additional Visitation Friday, September 21, 2018, 10:00 - 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel at Villa St. Benedict, 1920 Maple Ave., Lisle.
A Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated Friday, 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel.
Private Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville, IL.
