Obituary for Charlene P. "Pat" Wlazlo

Charlene P. "Pat" Wlazlo (nee Fromme), age 88, a resident of Naperville, IL since 2000, formerly of Chicago, IL and Tecumseh, MI, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020. She was born on September 29, 1931 in Chicago, IL.

Beloved wife of the late Bernard L. Wlazlo and the late Daniel F. Garczynski, loving mother of Susan (Michael Hensley) Wlazlo of Jonesboro, IN, Linda (Richard) Quinn of Wheaton, IL, John (Anna) Wlazlo of Ottawa Lake, MI, Tricia (Alan Stocking) Wlazlo of Warrenville, IL and the late Michael (Itzalhe) Wlazlo. The adored grandmother of Megan (Michael) Giacomino, Richard “Rick” (Margaret) Quinn, Katherine (Joseph) Hallman and Robert Quinn; Samantha Wlazlo; Joshua and Zachary Stocking; John and Michael Wlazlo, cherished great-grandmother of Dominic, Rocco and Luciano Giacomino; Lennox and Carson Quinn; Trenton and Gemma Hallman. Esteemed cousin of Edward Sherman (the late Antoinette), the late Frank Sherman (the late Evelyn), the late James Sherman. Devoted daughter of the late Charles and Agnes (nee Teefey) Fromme, dear sister of the late Lois (the late Raymond) Nohava and the late Charles,Jr. (the late Jacqueline) Fromme, fond aunt, great-aunt and dear friend of many.

Pat grew up on Chicago’s South Side and was a graduate of Kelly High School. She always mentioned that if you knew her in high school, you would have called her Charlene; all the rest of her life Pat or Patsy. She married Bernard, a postal worker soon afterwards and they raised five children together. After Bernard died, she met Daniel and moved to Tecumseh, Michigan. Pat was an office nurse most of her life and worked for the University of Michigan for their blood pressure screening unit before retirement. She was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville and enjoyed spending precious time with her family. You may have remembered Pat for her many truthful one line sayings that would unexpectedly make you laugh or smile; “Remember, you need three hugs a day,” and “Age is a just a number you write on a piece of paper.”

Due to current health concerns, a private family visitation and service will be held Wednesday, May 20th, 2020. A private family interment will follow at Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, IL. Details will follow for a memorial service to be celebrated when it is safe to do so.
