There has also been a significant drop in both international and kinship adoptions in the United States.

November is National Adoption Month – a time dedicated to raising awareness for adoption. Many national, state, and local agencies will use this time to advocate for the children who need homes and families that can provide loving care.

In 1984 President Ronal Reagan first brought national attention to the issue, declaring the first National Adoption Week. President Bill Clinton expanded it to National Adoption Month in 1995.

Despite the recent decline in adoptions, there is still a strong culture for adoption at work in the United States. There are 100 million Americans who have been personally touched by adoption within their families, or know someone who has, according to the NCFA.

Politicians and child welfare advocates are still fighting for reform in a system that struggles to provide children with basic needs.

At Friedrich Jones, we would like to draw awareness to National Adoption Month within the Naperville and Plainfield communities. We advocate for children’s needs through our regular community involvement.
