Obituary for Richard L. Eaton

Richard L. Eaton, age 83, a resident of Plainfield, IL since 1961, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2018. He was born on January 13, 1935 in Effingham, IL.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Hazel (nee Gephart); his loving children, Karen (David) McCord of Plainfield, IL, Brian Eaton of Joliet, IL, Linda Bernhagen of Lockport, NY and Cyndi Bittenbinder of Naperville, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Devon and Lauryn McCord, Garrett and Alyson Bernhagen, Brianne Bittenbinder; his dear sister, Charlotte Terneus and brother, John Eaton. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Eaton; and his siblings, Robert Eaton, George Eaton, Betty Fryman, Ronald Eaton and Gary Eaton.

Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1959 and earned his honorable discharge. He retired from Pipefitters Union Local #501 after 25 years of dedicated service. Rich was a longtime active member of Crossroads Christian Church (formerly Maple Lawn Christian Church). His grandchildren were the light of his life and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 18th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Summers officiating. Private family committal services will be held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
