Obituary for Charles G. "Chuck" Hunt

Charles G. "Chuck" Hunt, age 94, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Senior Star Assisted Living in Romeoville, IL with his son at his side. He was born August 25, 1923 in Patoka, IN.

Beloved husband of 70 years to the late Ann C. Hunt (nee Sanfilippo), whom he married March 11, 1944 and who preceded him in death on December 9, 2014, loving father of James (Jeanette) Hunt, adored grandfather of Brian Hunt, Jeffrey (Christie) Hunt and David (Kelly) Hunt, step-grandfather of Michael (Karina) Rhody, Steven (Stacey) Rhody and Jeffrey (Jessica) Rhody, great-grandfather of Melissa, Trevor, Sofia and Anthony, step-great-grandfather of Danielle, Aiden, Nicholas, Evan, Gibson, Lillian and Charlotte, devoted son of the late George and Hester (nee Turpin) Hunt, dear brother of the late Donald Hunt, fond uncle of Barbara (Ron) Markwart and friend of many.

Charles grew up in Patoka, IN and served with the U.S. Navy from 1941-1946 in the Pacific Theater during World War II. An Aviation Chief's Machinist's Mate (C), Chuck was a part of Fleet Air Wing TWO. He met his future wife, Ann, while he was training with the Navy at Navy Pier in Chicago. After the war they briefly settled in Chicago, moving to Oak Lawn in 1951 and finally settling in Naperville in 1971. Chuck was employed by Nabisco, Inc. for many years. Chuck and Ann enjoyed a long and happy retirement traveling the country. After living in Fort Myers, FL and Surprise, AZ, they resettled in Naperville in 2008 and resided at Monarch Landing in Naperville for nine years. After losing Ann, Chuck moved into assisted living at Senior Star in Romeoville, IL. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Naperville and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Visitation Sunday, April 8, 2018, 3:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville.

Services will begin Monday, April 9, 9:45 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville.

Interment: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
