Obituary for Betty J. Sandell

Betty J. Sandell, nee McCubrey, age 93, a resident of Monarch Landing in Naperville, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2018. Betty is survived by her husband, Don; her children, Eric Sandell, Todd (Marilyn) Sandell and Heidi (Mark) Enright; her grandchildren, Anna, Nathan, Kristin and Sam; her great-grandchildren, Hank and Ruby; her sister, Lael Sanders and brother, Bill McCubrey; her fond sister-in-law, Carol Josephs; as well numerous nieces, nephews, all of whom loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Everett McCubrey.

Betty was born on November 11, 1924 in New Ulm, MN to Everett and Palma McCubrey. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN and was a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. She and her husband Don met at the YMCA on the University of Minnesota campus and were married for nearly 69 years. They lived in South Dakota, California, Great Falls, MT, Pittsburgh, upstate New York, and Jackson, MI, before moving to Naperville in 1972. Betty was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville. She was active in her church, did volunteer work in the community, and was a violinist for the DuPage Symphony Orchestra.

Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville and Saturday, April 14, 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services begin at 11:00 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Rd., Naperville. Interment will follow at Naperville Cemetery.
