Obituary for Ann Sproles Haley

Ann Sproles Haley (nee Tupman), age 88, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Ann was born November 8, 1929 in Indianola, MS.

She married Bill Sproles on July 8th, 1946 in Indianola, MS, and together they had two children, Cheryl White of Lisle, IL, and the late Billy Sproles (Linda, deceased) of Byhalia, MS. She worked as a teller at Union Planters Bank before leaving to work with the family business. She and Bill founded two businesses together, and she worked for many years as the secretary-treasurer of their second business, Artisan Frame & Moulding Company in Memphis, TN and Byhalia, MS. She was a member and twice president of her local Quota Club, and an active member at Ridgeway Baptist Church.

Ann loved spending time with family and friends, and spent many years going to Sardis Lake and on motor home trips. She loved travel of any sort, and her photo albums are filled with pictures of trips to Europe, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and all over the United States (including a drive to Alaska that lives in family infamy). There was no such thing as “too far to drive,” as she knew there would be plenty to see along the way. She loved mountains, beautiful gardens, and being near any body of water, particularly the Florida Gulf Coast. Her face lit up anytime she saw babies and children, but especially when she was around her 6 great-grandchildren Sarah, Tommy, Eddie, Ellie, Hayden, and Henry.

Following the death of her beloved husband Bill in 1996, Ann continued to work, travel, and spend time with family, and married Ken Haley (deceased) in 2003. The couple traveled together in their motor home, played golf, and enjoyed countless games of cards with friends.
After Ken’s death in 2015, Ann moved north to Illinois to be closer to her daughter, sister, and granddaughter. There she quickly became an active member at Spring Meadows, the independent living community where she lived. She played dominoes, bridge, and joined Christ Church of Oak Brook. She was fond of telling people that the north isn’t as bad as they think.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Mary Tupman, her brothers Billie Hugh (Marcie, deceased) and David Eugene (or Buddy), her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Linda Sproles, and her cherished grandson Joshua Thorne. She is survived by her sisters Jane McNally (Fran) and Shirley Richards (Phil), daughter Cheryl White, step-daughter Susan Haley Lolley, step-son Philip Haley, Sr. (Marsha), granddaughters Jennifer Casademont (Tom) and Emily White, grandson Brad Sproles (Leslie), 7 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him.” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
