Obituary for Alan Anthony Stimac

Alan Stimac, age 67, of Chicago passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Alan will be remembered as a loving father and grandpa, kind and loyal friend, and as Indiana University Hoosier Basketball's number one fan. Alan was born on November 1, 1950 in Highland, IL, the son of the late Stanislaus and Violet Measki Stimac. He grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois and attended Saint Cecilia Church as a youth. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and continued on there to earn his MBA. His entire career was spent in Information Technologies at various companies including: PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois and most recently, Randstad.

Alan was also proud to serve his country as a member of the armed services.
Alan's number one priority was his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Throughout his lifetime, he loved home design projects. In his spare time, he loved coaching baseball and soccer, volunteering his time for special events, watching NCAA basketball with a cold Bud Light, vacationing to Palm Desert, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Marco Island, Florida, and he could always be found at the BBQ grill making his famous ribs.

Alan is survived by his sister, Theresa Schwarberg (Larry) of Park Forest, his children Ryan Stimac (Alison), and Erica Gabel (Kevin), both of Marietta, GA, and his six grandchildren whom he adored dearly: Aubrey, Delaney, Riley, Jackson, Patrick and Everly. He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Smith.
