Rita H. Powers, age 92 of Naperville, IL. Passed peacefully away, Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Edward Hospital, Naperville. Born February 14, 1920 in Sinsinawa, WI. Cherished mother of three daughters: Patricia Powers, Jeanne (Jon) Ripsky, and Pamela (Gary ) Leavenworth; two sons: Philip (Rebecca) Powers and Stephen (Kana) Powers. Loving grandmother of fifteen and great-grandmother of six. Fond sister of Vincent Huber. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Powers; two daughters: Kathleen Froderman and Marianne Miceli. Rita served in the US Army during WWII as a dietician. She was a 50 year resident of Naperville. She was a founding member of St. Raphael Church and School and had participated in numerous ministries at St. Raphael along with teaching there for 6 years. Rita also taught at SS. Peter & Paul School for 18 years. She volunteered at Hines Hospital, Community Convalescent Center, Du Page Children’s Museum and was a consulting dietician at numerous local nursing homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials to: St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville, IL 60540 or SS. Peter & Paul Catholic School, 201 East Franklin Street, Naperville, IL 60540 or Dominican University (formerly Rosary College) 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest, IL 60305. Memorial Visitation: Saturday, October 20th 9:30 -11:00 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville, IL 60540. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM at Church. Interment will be private. |
