Mary G. Turko

Mary G. Turko (nee O'Toole), age 92, a resident of Lisle, IL since 2012, formerly of Huntington, WV and Waterloo, IA, died Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born October 8, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY.

Beloved wife of the late Walter Turko, whom she married May 19, 1957 at Saint Andrew Avellino Roman Catholic Church in Flushing, NY and who preceded her in death on February 2, 2005, loving mother Nancy (Joe) Nora of Waterloo, IA, Robert (Janet) Turko of Roswell, GA, Christina (Tim) Hornig of Santa Fe, NM and Jane (Michael) Donnantuono of Naperville, adored grandmother of Joe, Jim and Anne Nora; Claire, Robert and Christopher Turko; Emma Hornig; Nick, David and Ally Donnantuono, devoted daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (nee Casey) O'Toole, dear sister of the late Margaret "Peggy" (the late Vincent) Bowen, the late Lawrence (Corinne) Caldwell and the late John Dudley (Constance) O'Toole, fond aunt and friend of many.

Mary grew up in Brooklyn, NY, attended P.S. 241 and was a graduate of Girls Commercial High School. A loving homemaker, Mary worked for AT&T in Manhattan before starting her family. After marriage she lived in West New York and Berkeley Heights, NJ and moved to Huntington, WV in 1963. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Huntington and later lived in Waterloo, IA where she was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading and, most of all, spending time with her family.

Funeral Information

Visitation Friday, August 5, 2016, 3:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.

Services will begin Saturday, August 6, 9:45 AM from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville.

Interment: Monday, August 8, 12:00 PM at Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA.
