James Earl Fitzpatrick

December 22, 1931 - October 26, 2017

James Earl Fitzpatrick, age 85 of Crest Hill, formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Hospital of Joliet.  He was born December 22, 1931 in Beckley, West Virginia, to the loving late parents, Homer and Hazel Fitzpatrick.  Cherished husband of Evelyn Fitzpatrick, wedded for 66 years.  Beloved dad of Lin (Tim) Esposito of Colorado Springs, CO, Jamie (Barbara) Fitzpatrick, Waterman, IL, Becky (Bill) Aber of Joliet, IL and Dave (Peggy) Fitzpatrick of Waterman, IL.  Adored granddaddy of Tabitha and Timothy Esposito, Sean and Jesse Fitzpatrick, Rachael (Brad) DiGiovine and Daniel Aber, Stephanie (Tony) Bonifay, Nathan (the late Alba) Fitzpatrick, Jeremy Fitzpatrick, and Kimberly (Dane) Christensen.  Great-granddaddy of Scarlett and Sofia Fitzpatrick, Ben and Josie Bonifay, and the late Cody DiGiovine.   Fond brother of Larry (Sara) Fitzpatrick and the late Virginia Ruth Collins.   Jim was a US Marine Corps Veteran, proudly serving in Korea.  He was wounded in action while serving with the 1st Marine Division near the Han River.  Jim was a Marine Sharpshooter and received the United Nations and Korean Service Medals and the Purple Heart.  Jim served as an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop #414, New Castle, Delaware and Troop #510 in Naperville, IL.  He was also chosen as a member of the Order of the Arrow.  He was a long time employee of BP Petroleum, working in the petrochemical research and development lab.  He is credited with a large number of patents.

Family and friends will meet for graveside services with full Military Honors:  Thursday, November 2, 2017 10:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 20935 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL  60421.
