Charles L. "Charlie" Graveline

July 01, 1939 - April 28, 2017

Charles L. "Charlie" Graveline, age 77, a longtime Naperville, IL resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, April  28, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.  He was born July 1, 1939 in Walhalla, ND.

Charles is the beloved husband of Barbara Graveline (nee Muenchow), whom he married March 2, 1965, loving father of Brad (Lisa) Graveline of Hinsdale, IL, Jeff (Laura) Graveline of Naperville and Mike (Abby) Graveline of Naperville, adored grandfather of Amanda and David; Lindsay, Jack and Olivia; Ben and Grace, devoted son of the late Laurea Graveline and Ena Graveline Snydal, dear brother of Bill (Wanda) Graveline of Grand Forks, ND, Bob (Jane) Graveline of Bismarck, ND and Ted (Caryn) Snydal of Hilton Head, SC, brother-in-law of Gloria (the late Glen) St. Cyr of Brainerd, MN, LaDonna (the late Marvin) Bode of Duluth, MN and the late William (Lynn) Muenchow, fond cousin, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.

 Charles Graveline was born in Walhalla North Dakota on July 1st, 1939 to Laurea Graveline and Ena Eyrikson-Graveline. He attended elementary and junior high schools in North Dakota and California. He graduated from Walhalla High School and attended the University of North Dakota. He received a BS degree in Civil Engineering in 1961. Upon graduation, he was hired by Amoco Oil Company, where he remained employed for 33 years.

He served in the US Army from 1963 – 1965, where he was assigned to Fort Belvior, VA and the Corps of Engineers in Seoul, Korea. After military service, he returned to work at Amoco Oil Co. and had various assignments in Northern Minnesota, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Detroit and Chicago. While in Chicago, he served as Product Engineer, Product Manager, District Manager, Manager—Petroleum Product Supply and Manager—Commercial Sales. 

After retirement from Amoco, he worked for a material handling distributor, where he sold and installed modular buildings, structural mezzanines, bridge cranes, loading dock equipment, and high speed automatic industrial doors. He was active with Naperville Kiwanis, volunteered at Edward Hospital and served on the board of his church.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Funeral Services Saturday, May 6 at 2:00 PM at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 N. Mill St, Naperville, IL 60563 with Pastor David Miller officiating. 

Interment: Naperville Cemetery, Naperville.
