David M. Boor

May 06, 1944 - February 02, 2017

David M. Boor, age 72, a 40 year resident of Naperville, IL passed away on February 2, 2017 at Edward Hospital. He was born May 6, 1944 in Berwyn, IL. David is survived by his devoted wife, Jane Boor; his loving children, Scott Boor of Naperville and Katie (Ryan) Waters of Smith Mountain Lake, VA; his cherished grandchildren, Bo, Will and Johnny Waters; his dear sister, Janice (Jan) Hapgood of LaGrange, IL. Dave received his Bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University.  He spent his career as a safety consultant for various insurance companies.  He was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.  He traveled to Slovakia twice to help support the ministry there.  During a building trip, he made several improvements to the Center for Christian Education in Martin, Slovakia. Dave was a loyal family man.  He always prioritized his two kids, Scott and Katie. He coached little league, flipped his patented ‘Barracuda Burgers’ at their swim meets, and traveled near and far to watch them compete. Family road trips included trivia questions based on his extensive, but often obscure wealth of knowledge.  Dave also loved his three grandsons dearly.  Bo, Will and Johnny always looked forward to deciphering the clues Grandpa Dave wrote to lead them on scavenger hunts.  And if something needed fixed, Grandpa always helped. Dave was a handy man who constantly worked on his 'honey do' list.  He poured his heart and sharp mind into his tasks.  His projects--a built in bunk bed with a loft for his son, a 'Ticky Tacky Tiki Bar' for special gatherings on the back deck, a framed tent for his three grandsons, and an arbor for his daughter's wedding ceremony--all offered both function and a source of fond family memories. Dave loved to socialize with good friends.  He found his daily dose at the local health club.  He loved staying fit with the other 'seenagers' in his spin class.  Their grueling workouts filled with laughter and music were often the topic of discussion at the dinner table. Dave loved cars, especially his 1970 red Cutlass convertible.  He was always on the hunt for a good cruise night and enjoyed attending auctions with his buddies. Dave loved the sunshine.  Annual trips to Florida with his wife, Jane, were much anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed.  They were filled with walks on the beach, waterfront restaurants, and relaxing with sand in between their toes. Dave's greatest love was his wife of 43 years, Jane.  She was ''the sunshine of his life.''
