Emil J. Mandel, age 88, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1964, formerly of Maywood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 19, 2012.
Beloved husband of 64 years to Marie (nee Corallo) Mandel, loving father of Douglas J. Mandel of Lindenhurst, IL and Carol (Raymond) Gloor of Naperville, adored grandfather of Lindsay Gloor, devoted son of the late Edward and Alletta (nee Howes) Mandel, dear brother of the late Alletta (the late Joe) Korsak, brother-in-law of Anna (Edward) Truscelli of Fort Lee, NJ, Rosalie (the late George) Ludolph of Fort Lee, NJ, and the late Salvatore Corallo of Florida, fond uncle of many.
Emil served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. After the war, Emil attended Michigan State University in East Lansing and later worked many years in sales management for Ryerson Steel, Chicago and Elk Grove, IL, retiring in 1979. Emil was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville. He enjoyed traveling, reading, (especially about history) and had a passion and knowledge for investing and financial markets. Emil and his family spent many enjoyable winters at their second family home in Delray Beach, FL.
Visitation Friday, November 23, 3:00-6:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin Saturday, November 24, 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
