Family and friends were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of V. Thomas Bartelmo on January 1, 2013, in Naperville, Illinois. He was 43 years old.
Tom was born in Valparaiso, Indiana; the tenth of eleven children of Vincent (deceased) and Patricia Bartelmo. He attended Central Elementary School, Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and graduated from Valparaiso High School in 1987, where he lettered in both wrestling and football. Tom went on to attend the University of Evansville, and earned his bachelorís degree in 1991. He was also a member of the university football team, where he played cornerback for the Aces.
Following graduation, Tom enjoyed a successful 20 year career in account management and sales, working for companies such as Behr and Nova Polymers, as well as independently. Tom lived in Naperville for the past 14 years with his girlfriend of 16 years, Nancy Bowles, and their dog, Izzy. Tom and Nancy travelled extensively. Some of their favorite destinations were St. Peteís Beach, Florida, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Europe. Tom enjoyed golfing and running and was a follower of most sports.
He will be fondly remembered for his passion and humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Tom is survived by his mother, Patricia Bartelmo, nine siblings, and 10 nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held from 12:00 (Noon) - 4:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Jimmy's Grill, 245 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540
