Sadie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Echols, her parents, Henry and Valley Monegan, and four of her eight siblings: Mary Alice Dunkentell, Henry Monegan Jr, Percy Monegan, and Eugene Monegan.
Sadie valued reading, learning, and teaching and was a school teacher very early in her life. Her love of teaching remained strong and she later earned a degree in Child Development from Prairie State College in Chicago Heights IL.
Sadie was always a talented, creative, innovative, and strong woman; a beloved friend and guiding light who taught us all so much about enjoying life. She took pleasure in cooking meals for her family and truly loved being outside planting and nurturing her flowers and the greenery and being surrounded by God’s beauty. An expert seamstress and dressmaker, Sadie created from scratch everything from fashion to slipcovers and ran a drapery making business from her home for several years.
Sadie’s family celebrates and gives thanks to God for giving us the guidance, laughter, commitment, and love of His dynamic and passionate daughter for 96 years. She is an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, wife, aunt, and friend who has now left her loved ones on Earth to be with her loved ones in Heaven. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who love her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the sisters and staff at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville, IL for the incredible love, friendship, and care they gave to Sadie.
