Pastor Richard E. Mullan

October 01, 1959 - March 05, 2017

Pastor Richard “Rick” E. Mullan, age 57, a longtime resident of Plainfield, IL, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on March 5, 2017. He was born on October 1, 1959 in Cedar Falls, IA.

Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Lanette (nee Nevius); his daughter, Kyrstin Mullan of Joliet, IL and son, Jonathan Mullan of Plainfield, IL; his parents, Robert and Beverly Mullan of Everton, MO; his siblings, Brent Mullan, Robert (Renee) Mullan, Jr., Becci (Ray) Goin and Bobette (Tony) Jarmusz; his niece, Marissa Goin; his mother-in-law, Shirlye (Dean) Derks; his siblings-in- law, Scott (Sue) Nevius, Patricia Nevius, Dawn (Gregg) Fulton, Freddie Nevius and their families. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dr. Fred Nevius.

Rick was devoted to Jesus Christ and shared his unwavering faith every day with all he met.  He was a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO, and Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He served in churches in Springfield, IL, Fairview Heights, IL, St. Petersburg, FL and Orlando, FL and has been an Associate Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church since 1998. Rick loved to spend time hunting with his friends. He truly enjoyed his newest passion of riding his motorcycle. Rick was also a talented musician and guitarist. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church, 15801 S. Route 59, Plainfield, and Friday, March 10, 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 10:00 AM at the church with Pastor Odis Weaver officiating. A private family interment will be held. Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield was entrusted with arrangements.
