James M. Toman, age 90 of Nappanee, formerly of Naperville, IL, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at his residence. He had been in ill health for one month. He was born February 3, 1926 in Chicago, IL to the late parents, James and Anna (nee Zabran) Toman. Jim was a graduate of Morton East High School in Berwyn, IL. He was a WWII Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. On May 14, 1949, he married Dorothy Nevsimal. He had worked for the United States Post Office in Berwyn and at Ace Hardware in Downers Grove, IL. The Toman's moved to Nappanee 1 1/2 years ago. Mr Toman attened Nappanee Missionary Church. He was a member of the VFW in Naperville. He was a Cubs fan and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Cathryn Wilkey of Nappanee, IN, Teresa (Don) McLuckie, of Morris, IL; grandchildren, Lisa (Max) Thain, Scott McLuckie, Jay (Katie) Wilkey, Maegen (Brad) Duerksen, great-grandchildren, Slyler and Chase Duerksen; brother, Joe (Barbara) Toman of Mokena, IL and sister, Grace Castongue of Summerfield, IL.
