Gary B. Swauger, age 78, a Naperville, IL resident since 1976, formerly of Bellevue, KY, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born August 25, 1939 in Dayton, KY to the loving late parents Clifford and Martha Mae Swauger.
Loving husband of Deanna K. Swauger (nee Bartley). Beloved dad of Lisa Ann (Sam Morreale of Sycamore, IL, and Lane (Nelly) Swauger of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Dearest Pop Pop of Brandon (Hilary) Morreale, Bailey and Brienne Morreale. Adored Great- grandfather of Matilda Mae Morreale. Dear Brother of Clifford (Janice) Swauger Jr. of Lexington, KY, Mary Jo Webster of Dayton, OH, Michael (Georgianna) Swauger of Ft. Thomas, KY, and Sally (Jim) Blommel of Dayton, OH. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Gary was a proud US Army Veteran. He retired from AT&T as an accountant, went on to work for St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church as a business manager and later as a facilities manager of the Church. During this time Gary answered the call to the Diaconate and was ordained a permanent deacon in the Joliet Diocese in 2001.
Gary's life was filled with his love of acting, playing and coaching the game of baseball, a high school football official for 25 years, his time as Deacon at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and his total devotion and love for his family. He and his wife, Deanna were married 53 years.
Memorial Visitation Friday, November 3, 2017, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.
Family and friends will meet to celebrate a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 4, 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2220 Lisson Rd., Naperville, IL.
Future inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
