Robert “Deacon” Evans, age 82, a life long resident of Plainfield, IL at rest Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at the Alden Estates of Shorewood. Born Dec. 5, 1930 in Joliet, IL the son of the late Charles and Bessie Evans.

Beloved husband of Wanetta for 60 years. Loving father of Cynthia (Patrick) Philipchuck, Cheryl (Norman) Pieper, Robert Evans, Jr. and Ronald (Tamara) Evans. Cherished grandfather of Misty Melvin, Aaron (Cindy) Pieper, Caroline Philipchuck, Margaret Pieper, Brandon (Sarah) Evans, Bryan Evans, Kellie (David) VanRixel, Alyssa (Russell) Edelman, Ashley, Alex, Derek and Tyler Evans. Fond great-grandfather of Tamai Faison, Mark-Thomas Faison, Caitlin Evans, Aaron Robert Pieper, Lauren Timm-Evans, Ayrton Evans and Jessica Mansmith. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and four sisters.

Robert had been employed with Fleischmanns Distillery for 25 years and then was a custodian at the Mill Street Elementary School in Naperville, IL. He was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge # 536, the Eastern Star and the Hope United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed sports, a long time Cub and Bulls Fan, playing golf, euchre, but most of all spending time with his family.

Visitation Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield, IL and Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 from 10:00 -11:00 AM at Hope United Methodist Church, 2506 Caton Farm Road, Joliet, IL 60435 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield, IL
