Gerald A. Scott

Gerald Anthony Scott, age 70, a longtime resident of Lisle, IL, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 15, 1947 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Gerald is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Sharon (nee Hatch); his loving children, Christopher J. Scott, Shannon M. (Paul) Condos, Brennan M.(Sarah) Scott and Jordan D. Scott; his cherished grandchildren, Katherine T. Scott, Corinne M., Kyle M. and Kailey A. Condos, Jacob B., Cole A. and Bryce W. Scott; his brother-in-law, Lyle (Brenda) Hatch; as well as many nieces, nephews, godchildren and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Alice Scott, Sr.; his siblings, Irene (the late George) Snow, Joseph Scott, Jr. and Ben (May) Scott; and his parents-in-law, Martin and Blanche Hatch.
Gerald worked in the shipyards in Northern Ireland and was a foreman at the age of 14. He immigrated to the United States in 1971. He met the love of his life and married Sharon Hatch on May 4, 1974 at St. Michael Parish, Chicago. Gerald was a maintenance engineer for the Morton Arboretum, St. James the Apostle Church, Glen Ellyn, Washington Square Retirement Home, Hinsdale, Hinsdale Hospital, and retired from Lisle Savings Bank. He was able to fix just about anything and helped his family and friends at a moment’s notice. Throughout his life, Gerald was a movie buff and loved John Wayne films. He was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Parish and served as an usher, greeter and most recently a Eucharistic Minister. Gerald was a loving family man and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 26, 3:00 until 8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 27, 10:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 820 Division St., Lisle. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
