James F. Baker

James F. “Jim” Baker, age 78, of Romeoville, IL formerly of Darien, IL passed away on May 8, 2017 at his home. He was born August 28, 1938 in PA the son of Homer and Hazel Baker.
He was the devoted father of James D. “Jim” (Vanessa) Baker, Steven R. (Karen) Baker and Andrew Baker; Devoted grandfather of Sophie, Annala and Ava Baker; loving brother Martha Brown, the late George Baker, Thomas Baker, the late Donald Baker, fond uncle and friend to many.
Jim was member of Grand Haven Veteran’s Club, Grand Haven Theater Club, Grand Haven Bocce Club. He worked with the Archdiocese of Chicago for 15 years retiring in 2014. While his sons were growing up, he coached soccer and baseball teams for the Darien Youth Club, head of Umpires for the Darien Youth Club and was Nation Chief for his sons’ Indian Guide Program. In his younger days, he was a YMCA Weight Lifting Champion.
Jim wanted people to know that he was a man with a great sense of humor and he hated nobody.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, May 13 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace, 709 Plainfield Road, Darien, IL 60561. Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, May 13 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road (corner of Rts. 59 & 30), Plainfield, IL 60544.
