Gerald Richard Legg

January 03, 1942 - August 30, 2017

Gerald Richard "Dick" Legg, age 75, a resident of Naperville, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous bout with cancer on August 30, 2017. He was born January 3, 1942 in Muncie, IN. Devoted husband of 54 years to Susan Legg; loving father of Jim (Bea) Legg and Debby Legg Leavenworth; beloved son of the late Alma and Edwin Legg; cherished grandfather of Sara and Susi Legg, and Brandon, Nicholas, and Erin Leavenworth; dear brother of Cathy Wasielewski and Marcia (Charlie) Leggett. Dick was a great family man who will be deeply missed. Dick was the president of Bryant Heating and Air Conditioning at TEC for the majority of his career. Dick loved traveling around the country with his Harley-Davidson buddies. He was an avid golfer and loved participating with his Birdie and Bogie leagues and cherished each of the members. He devoted much of his time to mission work, rebuilding homes, in places that experienced natural disasters like Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, Southern Illinois after tornados, Detroit, Iowa and even near home. Dick was an avid Cubs and Blackhawks fan, who rarely missed a game. He was a member of the Thursday Morning Men's Breakfast Club, where his closest friends gathered to discuss and solve the world's problems. But his rock, besides his family and friends, was Community United Methodist Church in Naperville, where he was a board member of the Church's foundation and dedicated close to 20 years working with the homeless (PADS).
