Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Burdett

July 13, 1957 - September 14, 2017

Elizabeth “Betty Lou” Burdett, age 60, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1990, passed away peacefully at her home on September 14, 2017, surrounded by the love of her family. Elizabeth bravely fought against her cancer for 22 years. She was born on July 13, 1957 in Chicago, IL.

Betty Lou is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Greg Burdett; her loving sons, Gregory and Jack Burdett; her brother, Joe (Deborah) Lokanc and sister, Cindie (Andy) Winter; her brother-in-law, Tom (Kate) Burdett and sister-in-law, Janice (Don) Watkins; as well as her nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Lokanc; and her niece, Kacy Burdett.

Betty Lou’s passions in life were many but first and foremost in her heart were her children Gregory and Jack. She was driven to fight her cancer so that she would be able to see her children grow from little boys to beautiful young men. She was able to see them graduate from college and graduate school which were monumental occasions for her. Her boys gave her so much happiness and joy throughout her struggles with cancer. They always brighten her days. Betty Lou was an avid gardener and loved her many flowers and shrubs that we planted over the years. Her flowers always attracted butterflies and birds which gave her great pleasure to watch especially in her later years. Always an animal lover, she had many pets over the years from her childhood to her current dogs Dakota and Lacey.  Betty Lou’s admiration of nature and the creatures in it put her at peace with herself. As her days grew short, Dakota would lay in her lap and provided a solace to her that made her more comfortable and at ease. She always had a kind word for everyone and would do anything to help family, friends and strangers alike. You could always count on her for inspiration, a shoulder to lean on, and a good laugh.  There was nothing she wouldn’t do to help out others when the need arose. She will be missed greatly but her memory, love, and spirit will live within each of us forever.
