Melvin “Mel” Walsh, age 86 of Plainfield, IL at rest April 7, 2012 at his home with his family at his side. Born January 14, 1926 in Oak Park, IL the son of the late George and Kathryn Walsh. Beloved husband of Gloria for 56 years, loving father of Eileen (Timothy) Rico, Geralynn (Gregg Peters) Walsh, Laura (Terence) Canniff and Thomas (Staci) Walsh. Cherished grandfather of Cassie, Katie and Caroline Rico; Jordan and Max Peters, Hannah Canniff, Thea and Matty Walsh; dear brother of Paul (Ruby) Walsh and life long friend of Richard S. Spector. Mel proudly served in the US Marines. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the We Care Food Pantry, Romeoville, IL or Honor Flight Chicago. (honorflightchicago.org).
