Ann M. Drendel (nee Spokas), age 91, a lifelong resident of Lisle and Naperville, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1925 in Chicago, IL.
Beloved wife of the late Oliver W. Drendel, whom she married October 7, 1950 and who preceded her in death on May 11, 1984, loving mother of Carol (the late Joseph) Kratville of Dallas, TX, Jean Drendel of Naperville, Larry (Patrice) Drendel of Naperville, Dick (the late Lisa) Drendel (Jamie Kennedy) of Haviland, KS and Mel (Catie) Drendel of Plainfield, IL, adored grandmother of Geoffrey (Courtney Trombly) Kratville and Elisha Kratville; Christi (Michael) Andriano, Mandi (Joel) Templeman, Tera (Jesse) Kellner, Jaimi (fiancé, Tim O'Connor) Gollinger and Julie Schum; Nick and Ryan Drendel; Kali Tarr, Kami (Matt) Ballard; Conner (Cassie) Drendel, cherished great-grandmother of Luke; Katelyn, Natalie and Chloe; Olivia, Brandon and Delaney; Taylor and Hallie; Kelton, Baylor and Weston; Greyson, Gentry and Gaige, devoted daughter of the late John and Mary Spokas, dear sister of Agnes (the late Frank) Fatora, John (the late Elizabeth) Spokas, Millie (Don) Strobel, Cas Spokas and the late Helen House and the late Frank (Pat) Spokas, fond cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Ann grew up Lisle, attended St. Joan of Arc Grade School and was a 1941 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. Ann and her husband, Oliver, farmed for many years in the area that is now Huntington subdivision (corner of Naper Blvd & Chicago Ave.) in Naperville. She was a longtime member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and enjoyed gardening, baking, solving crossword puzzles and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2:00-7:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 25, 9:30 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment to follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
