Eileen A. Maloney, (nee Meindl), age 81, of Naperville, IL since 1968, at rest Sunday, February 5, 2012. Eileen was born April 7, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA to Frank and Anna (nee Michell) Meindl. With her family, she moved to Chicago in 1943. As a young woman, Eileen was independent and well traveled. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1948. She attended college at Mundelein College, where she graduated in 1952 with a degree in psychology. She married Neil Maloney in 1952. Eileen was a homemaker while Neil worked for Illinois Bell. Neil and Eileen lived in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood and Morton Grove, IL during the first years of their marriage. In 1968, they moved to Naperville. Eileen had a kind and gentle spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her interests included gardening and singing. Eileen loved a warm and sunny day, especially at the beach. She particularly enjoyed her life at home, “kitchen table” conversations and the company of her family and friends. She was welcoming, charming, silly, witty, and easygoing. Eileen was preceded in death by Neil, her beloved husband of 56 years, and her son Thomas. Survived by her children, Neil Jr. (Mary), Barbara, Joanne (Jeff) Urbanowski, all of Naperville, Maureen (Mike) Davis of Washington NC and Daniel (Elizabeth) and Michael, both of Champaign, IL; grandmother of Meghan and Matthew Maloney, Anne (Chris) Wilson, Peter and Rebecca Urbanowski, Will Davis, and Sarah, Olivia and Julia Maloney; and great grandmother of Trent Wilson; sister of Marie (the late Rudy) Wagner and Helen (Carl) Jongleux-Arnold; and sister-in-law of the late Al Jongleux, the late William (Dorothy) Maloney, the late Mary Jane (the late Jim) Larkin, Jerry Maloney and Rev. Edward Maloney. Visitation Thursday, February 9, 4:00-9:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Friday, February 10, 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville, IL. Future Inurnment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or Hesed House, Aurora, IL. |
