Christine C. Franko (nee Howe), age 92, of Blair, NE, formerly of Hinsdale and Naperville, IL, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at her home. She was born February 27, 1921 in Chicago.
Beloved wife of the late Andrew W. Franko, whom she married July 6, 1946 and who preceded her in death August 4, 1986, loving mother of Marilyn (Ken) Scott of Naperville, Barbara (Buzz) Franko Chapman of Irvine, CA, Tina Barry of Naperville, Andrea (Steve Dion) Franko of Carson City, NV and Lisa Scardino of Blair, NE, adored grandmother of seven, cherished great-grandmother of three, devoted daughter of the late Al and Christine Howe, dear sister of MaryLee (the late Jim) Hilger of Oak Lawn, IL and the beloved brother late Herbert (the late Vermona) Howe, fond aunt of many.
Christine grew up in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood, attended St. Rita Grade School and was a graduate of Lindblom High School. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Naperville and was a former member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Hinsdale. Christine was a talented seamstress and will be remembered for her great love of family. Her fondest excursions were a ride in an open cockpit airplane on a cedar runway at Midway Airport and her ride in a combine harvesting corn in Blair.
Visitation Sunday, October 13, 3:00-7:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville, IL.
Services will begin Monday, October 14, 9:15 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville, IL 60540.
Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
