Victoria Cooper Rommel

February 18, 1954 - January 16, 2013

Victoria Cooper Rommel, age 58, of Naperville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 18, 1954 in Louisville, Ky. She moved to San Francisco, Calif., as a young adult and married her life-long love, W. Geoffrey Rommel, in 1984. In 1988 Vicki and her husband relocated to Chicago, IL where they raised their two daughters. She lived in Naperville from 2002 until her death.

Vicki taught elementary music at the Trimble County (Ky.) public schools, Our Lady of Lourdes (Louisville, Ky.), and Our Lady of Mercy (Daly City, CA, 1985-87). She served as Assistant Director of Choirs at Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago, IL, from 2001 to 2007. Vicki’s devotion throughout her life was to her children.

In addition to her husband Geoffrey, Vicki is survived by her two daughters, Cecilia (Nate) Hendriex and Katherine M. Rommel; two grandsons, Angel A. Franco of Winnebago, IL, and Tysyn L. Hendriex of Rockford, IL; as well as her eight siblings: Judy (Tony) Heitzman, Chuck (Jeanie) Cooper, Dave Cooper, Gina (Mark) Nethery– all of Louisville, Ky., Mary (Paul) DeLetter of Lexington, Ky., Greg (Maria) Cooper of Liverpool, England, Tina (John) Merk of Floyds Knobs, Ind., and Joe (Ed) Cooper of New York, NY. She will also be lovingly remembered by her mother-in-law, Ann Rommel of Santa Fe, NM, and many extended family members and friends.

Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W., Jr. and Martha W. Cooper, formerly of Louisville, Ky.

Funeral Information

Visitation Sunday, January 20, 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville.

Services will begin Monday, January 21, 10:30 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Family and friends will meet Tuesday, January 22, 11:00 A.M. Eastern at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Rd., Louisville, Ky 40205 for graveside services.
