Joan Forsberg (nee Gensler), age 76, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1960, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at her home. She was born May 30, 1936 in Chicago, IL.
Beloved wife of the late Robert J. “Bob” Forsberg, whom she married June 14, 1958 and who preceded her in death June 9, 1998, loving mother of Susan (Todd) Waller of Yorkville, IL, Kathryn (Tony) Nugent of Elmhurst, IL, Jon (Diane) Forsberg of Naperville, Michael Forsberg of Port Barrington, IL, Paul (Jocelyn) Forsberg of Orlando, FL and Matthew (Lindsay) Forsberg of Elmhurst, adored grandmother of Courtney, Alexandra and Jacqueline Nugent; Brian and Kevin Forsberg; Robert, Rebecca and Patrick Forsberg; Parker, Trevor and Jasmine Forsberg; Carson and Cooper Forsberg, devoted daughter of the late Carl J. and Alice (nee Kimple) Gensler, dear sister of John “Jack” (Pat) Gensler of Naperville, William (Helen) Gensler of Tucson, AZ and late Robert (the late Adele) Gensler, sister-in-law of Dianne (Jose) Alvarez of Winfield, IL and the late Roy (Sandy) Forsberg, fond aunt of many.
Joan grew up on Chicago’s Northwest Side, attended St. William Parish & Grade School and was a graduate of Trinity High School. She received a degree in Education from Loyola University in Chicago and taught until starting her family.
Joan was a founding member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville and was also a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She was an avid reader and member of many book clubs. Joan also enjoyed playing bridge, participating in Bible Study and volunteering at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL.
Visitation Sunday, March 3, 2:00-7:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville.
Services will begin Monday, March 4, 9:45 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville.
Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville, IL.
