Marilyn 'Lynne' Dilger

July 02, 1928 - May 16, 2017

Marilyn 'Lynne' Costabile Dilger, age 88, passed away May 16, 2017 at Sunrise Senior Living in Naperville, IL.  She was born July 2, 1928 a daughter of Joseph J. and Mary V. Costabile.

She was born in Summit, NJ and lived there for 69 years before moving to Little River, SC in 1997 where she was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the River Hills Golf and Country Club and the Grand Dunes Tennis Club.

She was a graduate of Mount Saint Dominic's in Caldwell, NJ and held a degree in Merchandising from Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania.

While in Summit, she was an elected member of the Republican Committee of Union County and the Summit Republican City Committee.  She was a 25 year member of the Union County Board of Elections and a former officer of the Summit Fortnightly (Woman's) Club. She also had been a member of the Summit Tennis Club, the Crestview Swim and Tennis Club, The Warrenbrook Golf and Country Club and The Summit Playhouse Association.

She was a caring, strong, independent, sometimes tenacious, fun loving woman and was active in tennis and golf most of her life.  She worked hard, played fair, loved her husband, family, poodle, God and country more than anything.  She spent the better part of her life caring for others without complaint and will be missed by all those that knew her.

Survivors include 3 sons. John G.Dilger III and his wife Margaret of Kenilworth, NJ, Michael J. Dilger of Bedminster, NJ and Jeffery L. Dilger and his wife Lynn J. of Bolingbrook, IL.  She was also grandmother to  6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A memorial service for family members and friends will be held in NJ. Burial will be at Saint Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ.  Those interested in attending either event should contact Jeff Dilger at jeffdilger2@gmail.com
