Dorothy J. Caruso (nee LaMantia), age 93, a resident of Naperville, IL, formerly of Palos Heights, IL, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Tabor Hills Health Care Facility in Naperville. She was born December 25, 1918 in Chicago, IL.
Beloved wife of the late Salvatore Caruso, loving mother of Dee (Bob) Wiedeman of Naperville, Roc (Jan) Caruso of Oak Lawn, IL and Gina (Kevin) Hartler of Naperville, adored grandmother of Jeni (Scott) Hutchison, Jonathan (fiancée, Liz Grove) Wiedeman, Ami Caruso, Kara (Jim ) Francis, Robin (Tim) Wheeler, Kim, Carly and Paige Caruso, David and Lauren Hartler, cherished great-grandmother of four, devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine LaMantia, dear sister of Josephine (the late Andrew) McGann of Oak Forest, IL, fond aunt of many.
Dorothy grew up in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood and was a graduate of Mercy High School. She was a former member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evergreen Park, IL and St. Alexander Catholic Church in Palos Heights and was involved in the Altar & Rosary societies at both churches. Dorothy was a tireless volunteer and served as “hot dog” lady at St. Alexander’s Church. She also enjoyed painting and playing bridge.
Visitation Wednesday, December 19, 4:00-9:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville, IL.
Services will begin Thursday, December 20, 8:45 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Dr., Naperville.
A luncheon will follow at the church.
Private interment: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
