Lorin A. Robinson

Lorin “Robbie” Robinson, age 84 of Plainfield, IL at rest Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Lakewood Nursing & Rehab. Center in Plainfield, IL. Born January 13, 1928 in Monmouth, IL the son of the late Lorin and Beulah Robinson. Beloved husband of the late Janice, loving father of Andy (Elda) Robinson, Sue (Fred) VanCurler, Charlie (Cindy) Robinson and Janis Fox, cherished grandfather of Sam Robinson, Bonnie (Jason) Lee, Betsy (Kevin) McPherron, Richie (Jessica) Fox and Ben Fox. Dear brother of the late Betty (Gilbert) Blake and fond uncle of numerous. Robbie was a Sergeant in the US Marines, during the Korean and WW II era. Was on the Secor, IL volunteer fire department, was employed with Caterpillar for 37 years, retiring in 1983 from the Joliet Plant. Was a Village Trustee for Plainfield from 1974 to 1982 and a member of the First Baptist Church of Plainfield. Was an avid Amateur Radio Operator, WB9AUV and active with the Joliet Amateur Radio Club. After he retired, he moved to Redding, CA and was active with Shascade Community Services and had become their interim director. Robbie moved back here in 2001 and became active with the Chicago American Legion, Beverly Hills Post 407. Robbie will be remembered for being a die hard Cubs fan, a very faithful man of God, putting others before himself. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, P.O. Box 911, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, 2650 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL 60435 with a half hour of visitation prior to the services. Interment at Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield, IL. Visitation Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 2:00 – 7:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road, Plainfield, IL 60544
