Robert W. “Bob” Bortman, age 73, a resident of Dixon, IL since 2002, formerly of Westchester, Broadview and Darien, IL, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his home. He was born November 17, 1938 in Chicago, IL. Bob grew up in Cicero, IL, moved to West Allis, WI, then to Westchester, IL. He graduated from Proviso High School, Class of 1956. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business from North Central College in Naperville and worked as a manufacturer’s representative for many years in the metal industry. Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a former member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Darien, IL. Bob enjoyed taking care of his yard, exploring history and sharing the outdoors with his family.
Beloved husband of Mary Anne (nee Lake) Bortman, whom with he celebrates 42 years of loving marriage, kind and caring father of Jennifer (Torsten) Eckstein of Forest Park, IL and Victoria “Tori” (Dan Sharp) Bortman of Portland, OR, adored grandfather of Axel Zane Eckstein and Zadie Annika Eckstein, devoted son of the late Stanley and Violet Bortman, dear brother of William “Bill” (Priscilla) Bortman of Darien, IL, Gloria (Joe) Krygier of Victorville, CA, the late Ronald (Ronnie) Bortman, and the late Joyce Arquilla, fond uncle of many, brother-in-law to Alice (Ray) Gallian, Jay (Mary) Lake, Gigi (Joe) DiPirro, Mike (Celeste) Lake and Pat (Steve) Freitag.
Visitation Friday, April 20, 2012 from 3:00 – 9:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL 60540. With an additional visitation Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 9:00-10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Residence, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville, IL 60563.
