Raymond C. "Ray" Wieser

July 07, 1938 - July 12, 2017

Raymond C. "Ray" Wieser, 79, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1968, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was born July 7, 1938 in Chicago, IL.

Beloved husband of the late Judith M. "Judy" Wieser (nee Heinol), whom he married January 7, 1958 and who preceded him in death February 26, 2014, loving father of Cindi Smelser of San Antonio, TX, Kim Pfister of Naperville and John (Janee) Wieser of Naperville, adored grandfather of Carly (Casey) Pyle and Nick Smelser; Meghan (Mike Cosgrave) Pfister, Dan Pfister, Emma (Ryan) Venable, Anne (fiancé, Matt Miller) Pfister, Mary Pfister and Colleen Pfister; Jenessa, Raymond and Katiana Wieser, cherished great-grandfather of Avery, Chelsea, James and Charlotte Rae, devoted son of the late Charles (the late Emily) and the late Anne (nee Plocar) Wieser, dear brother of Diane (the late Ron) Wiseheart, Chuck (Gwen) Wieser and the late Margaret (the late John) Dema, brother-in-law of James (the late Rose) Shanahan, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. 

Ray grew up in Chicago, attended Lane Tech High School (Class of 1956) and received a degree in industrial engineering from the Industrial Engineering College of Chicago. He served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves from 1956-1962, and later joined Molex Incorporated in Lisle, IL, where he rose rapidly through the company. He made his mark in manufacturing and operations, and later as the president of the commercial division. He was particularly instrumental in building acquisitions into thriving operations. His dedication and hard work propelled him to the position of Senior Vice President, where he ultimately retired after 35 years of outstanding service. 

Ray was an enthusiastic and avid trap shooter and was a member of Naperville Sportsman's Club and Tucson (AZ) Gun Club, among other organizations. Additionally, Ray was an avid Chicago sports fan, and would often be found watching Cubs or Hawks games. Other interests included, but were not limited to, Corvettes and car shows, WWI and WWII history and tours, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Funeral Information

Visitation Sunday, July 16, 2017, 3:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 17, 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Deacon Ron Yurcus officiating.

Future Inurnment: Mausoleum of the Holy Apostles, SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
