Helen Marie Harmon

December 17, 1917 - February 24, 2013

Helen Marie Harmon, 95, a longtime resident of the Hammond/Schererville, IN area, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2013 at St Patrick’s Residence, Naperville, IL. She was born December 17, 1917 in Lawler, IA to Aurdena and James Kelly.
Helen is survived by her loving children, Georgina (Jerry) Roney of Naperville, IL, Edward (Jeanne) Harmon of Burbank, CA and Clarence (Neferti) Harmon of Houston, TX; and her devoted grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Kathleen and Amy Roney, Karen and Kevin Harmon. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Harmon and their daughter, Maura Harmon.
Helen earned her Master’s degree in History from the University of Chicago. She taught in the Chicago Public Schools for over 30 years. She had a quick wit and humor, was very skilled in needlework, enjoyed playing bridge and discussing current events. In her early years, Helen was very athletic having played multiple sports. Most of all, Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 10:00 AM at St Patrick’s Residence Chapel, 1400 Brookdale Rd, Naperville, IL 60563. Family and friends will meet for final committal services at 12:45 PM at Memory Lane Memorial Park, 6305 W. Lincoln Highway (Rt. 30), Schererville, IN.
