Gary V. Jones, age 72 of Bolingbrook, IL formerly of St. Louis and Leslie, MO. Passed away peacefully March 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 24, 1940 in Braggadocio, MO. Cherished husband of Diann “Sue” Jones, nee O’Neal, wedded for 53 years. Beloved father of Andrew (Melanie) Jones of Plainfield, IL and Jeanette “Nicki” Fagust of Bolingbrook, IL. Loving Poppy of Taylor and Dalton Jones and Brandon and Emma Fagust. Fond brother of Julia Frances (Weldon) Crawford of St. Louis, MO, the late Floyd (Audrey) Jones of Ferguson, MO, the late Billy Joe (Martha) Jones of Dittmer, MO, Paula (Chuck) Beard of Ballwin, MO and Pamela (Jeff) Boyher. Dearest Uncle of many. Best friend and master of “Bruiser and Bandit”. Preceeded in death by his parents: Vernon and Lillian Jones. Gary was an avid golfer and wood worker, especially hand crafting furniture. He had a love for flying and was a member of the Chicago Gliders Club. He had a passion for sport shooting and specifically teaching proper sport shooting techniques. Gary had joined the Army National Guard in the early 1960’s and then Air National Guard. His time spent in the service was centered around music, especially entertaining troops and officers in the Army and Air National Guard Bands. Gary’s work career centered around traffic control lighting and devices. He started out working for the Wellsbach Electric Company in St. Louis and later for the Traffic Control Corporation of Lombard and the Midwest Traffic Products of Romeoville, where his title was, Vice-President, President and later CEO. Funeral InformationVisitation will be Friday, March 8, 3:00 until 8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544. (Corners of Rt 59 & Rt 30) Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Plainfield Township Cemetery, Plainfield, IL.
