Walter K. Jenkins

July 25, 1929 - May 12, 2017

Walter K. Jenkins, age 87, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1969, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2017 at Tabor Hills in Naperville. He was born on July 25, 1929 in Council Bluffs, IA. Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary E. Jenkins; his loving children, Walter Donald (Kimberly Sue) Jenkins of Plainfield, IL, Cynthia Ann (Rick) Wills of Naperville, IL, Nancy Ruth (Terrance) King of Villa Park, IL and Patricia Kay (Robert) Todd of Naperville, IL; his cherished grandchildren, Benjamin Jenkins, Andrew Jenkins, Natalie Jenkins, Audy Higgins, Lakota Hollowell, Alexandra (Megan) Wills, Adam Wills, Eric Todd, Evan Todd and Marissa Todd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lott Jenkins and Ruth Jenkins and his sister, Jean (the late Earl) Johnson. Walter proudly served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1955. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Iowa State University and his master’s degree in business from the University of Buffalo. He enjoyed a lifelong career as a chemical engineer and retired from Uno-Ven in 1992. Walter selflessly gave of his time and talents and was an active member of the Naperville Noon Rotary. In his retirement, Walter developed the water purification portion of the Rotary sun ovens that greatly improved the lives of those who received them. He was a dedicated longtime member and Elder of Knox Presbyterian Church. Walter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 1:00 until 2:00 PM  at Knox Presbyterian Church, Naperville. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM at the church. Interment will be private. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville was entrusted with arrangements.
