Maude A. Gates, age 94 of Naperville, IL formerly of Rockford, IL passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012 at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born August 23, 1918 in Platteville, WI, the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred Golden.
Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Gates, loving mother of David (Marci) Hanson, Kristi (Steven) Baker, Carol (Barry) Dunne and Gary (Elinor) Gates, cherished grandmother of Matthew Baker, Christopher Baker, Elizabeth Hanson, Lydia (Cody) Wright, Anna (Steven) Tramell, Amanda (Kenny) Dolinger, Alyssa Dunne, Grant Gates and Erin Dunne, fond great-grandmother of Evan Wright, Archer Wright, Amelia Tramell, Navie Tramell and Logan Wright. Dear sister of the late Ruth Lander and loving aunt of the late Carol Porter and Michael (Susan) Lander. Maude’s dedication to her family, friends and many charities overflowed with love and generosity.
She was especially known for sending thousands of cards over her lifetime – always remembering birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. Maude was an excellent cook and enjoyed her time in the kitchen, preparing everyone’s favorite meals and birthday dinner of choice. She was an avid reader and generously donated her “only read once” copies of books to others she knew would enjoy them. She was a treasure to all who knew and loved her. She gave of herself beyond measure in whatever capacity that was asked of her. Maude will forever be remembered as a remarkable woman. Maude was a member of Naperville Church of Christ.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Naperville Church of Christ, 2035 East 75th Street, Naperville, IL 60565. Private family inurnment in Wisconsin.
