“Thank you so much for all your help with the funeral planning and the actual funeral. Everything was beautiful and could not have been more special or gone any smoother. It was comforting for our family to know that everything was going to be taken care of and that we would do my father-in-law justice with a very beautiful funeral. Thank you so much for that peace-of-mind. We could not have been more pleased with how everything turned out. You all are truly wonderful at what you do. I would never go anywhere else! (Although I’m hoping not to have to use your services for a very long time!) Thank you so much for everything.”

Edward S. Butkewitz, aka “Ed”, “Eddie” or “Bucky” to his friends. He was born on December 16, 1914 in a little house in Naperville, IL on South Webster Street and passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at The Tillers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Oswego, IL. As a young boy Ed fell in love with aviation and sadly witnessed his good friends’ father's plane crashing in the vicinity of Aurora Ave. and Eagle St. It did not deter him and he obtained his pilot's license in 1932. Thus began his lifelong love affair with aviation. He flew his Cessna all over the U.S., Canada and Mexico enjoying every minute of it along with his family. Ed married his high school sweetheart and first wife, Edith “Edie” (nee Haidu) and had two daughters, Carole and Jeaneen. He worked with his father, Stanley, at his shoe repair shop in the building Stanley had purchased in the early 1900's at 38 West Jefferson Avenue. In 1945 World War II was ending and life was picking up for Naperville. Ed and his wife, Edie opened Naper Record & Radio Sales in the building he now owned at 38 W. Jefferson Ave. and with the onset of television became RCA Victor's first dealer in the Chicago suburbs and changed the business name to Naper TV & Appliance in 1949. These were to be the boom days of early television - an exciting time period of life. In the 1950's Ed was on the founding board of directors and along with a group of Naperville business men and pilots founded Naper Aero Club which is attached to an exclusive fly-in community with a private airport, one of the first in the country. Ed sold his business and retired in the late 70's. He continued his love Ed is survived by his daughter, Jeaneen (Dan), grandchildren, Lisa (Randy) and Michael, great-granddaughter, Cydney and brother, Peter. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley & Anna Butkiewicz, his first wife, Edith, his second wife, Jean, daughter, Carole, sister, Vicky and brother Leo.
