Edward L. "Ed" Pawelczyk

Edward L. “Ed” Pawelczyk, age 91, a resident of Plainfield, IL since 1998, formerly of Cicero, IL, died Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville, IL. He was born May 9, 1926 in Cicero, IL.

Beloved husband of the late Marcella Pawelczyk (nee Wicaryus), whom he married June 23, 1951 and who preceded him in death on May 25, 2006, loving father of Cynthia (Jeff) Borowiak, Cathy (Richard) Del Sarto, Carolyn (Dennis) Nelson and the late Susan (Kenneth) Stam, adored grandfather of Timothy Stam, Jeremy (Amanda) Stam and Christopher (Amanda) Stam; Michelle, Meagan and Melissa Del Sarto; James Kulovitz, Christina (Ryan) Hanks, Michael, Susan and Matthew Nelson, cherished great-grandfather of Payton, Aiden and Riley Stam; Calvin Hanks, devoted son of the late Leo and Natalie (nee Barowski) Pawelczyk, dear brother of twin, Hillard (the late Frances) Pawelczyk and the late Frank, Leonard, Helen and Eleanor, brother-in-law of Virginia (George) Gurke, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.  

Edward grew up in Cicero, attended Columbus Elementary School and Morton East High School and served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a foreman for Hotpoint/General Electric in Cicero and worked in material management/central supplies for Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL. Edward was a member of the American Legion Cicero Post 96. He enjoyed sports and was an enthusiastic Chicago Cubs fan. Edward loved playing cards with his Plainfield Seniors club and, most of all, spending time with his family.

Funeral Information

Visitation Thursday, November 2, 2017, 3:00-9:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held Friday, November 3, 10:00 AM in the funeral home.

Interment: St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.
